Came upon this chart recently - shows that since 1975 most of the time it would have been best to be in a variable rate mortgage. BUT - look at the early eighties - ouch - how did anyone afford a house then? Bottom line: How brave are you to bet rates stay as low as they are for the next 5 yrs - I'm not!
